New to here and soon to the beach. Is tomorrow a good for a first-timer weather and tide wise?

After I asked my question, I can check on weather and tides but is the drive favorable for a first-timer?

Depends on which end you're at, what you're driving, and how careful you are. I haven't come in at High Island in years. The Sabine entrance can get pretty soft and is often the worst part. The less rain we get, the softer the entrance can be. Last I heard, the beach is still fenced at the two-mile mark and it's not a problem for us to reach with a 2WD and all-terrains. I've said it here before: always have a plan B (jack, boards, strap, shovel, friend who knows what they're doing, etcetera).

the soonest i can go its Thursday. i have to much going on until then but i will say this i have been to both sides in the last 2 months. but haven't had to much luck on finding friends to play with male or female. on the high island side i saw one guy he wanted to play with my fishing poll but he didn't want me touching his fishing poll. and on the other end i saw 2 guys playing around but they didn't want anyone else joining in they didn't care if anyone watched so me and a pretty good looking older woman just set back and watched and but she didn't want to play around either. so i really starting to wonder if the 1 1/2 hour drive each is worth it.

The tides are QUITE high today, according to the tide table/forecast. Even the low tides are higher than normal. There will not be much solid beach, upon which to drive. I have a 2WD vehicle, so, based upon what I saw Sunday, with so much sand washed-out by the storm. I would consider today’s conditions to be terrible, at the High Island end. I had wanted to drive out there, mid-day, but one look at the tide tables told me that I would be wasting my gasoline. (I do not know what the Sea Rim side looks like.) tides.willyweather.com/tx/jefferson-county/mcfaddin-beach.htmlThe soonest that I am likely to return to the beach would be Saturday/Sunday. I really should get myself another surf-capable kayak, to replace the one that was stolen. That would enable me to reach the “traditional nude” area, without having to worry about the driving conditions.

Thanks to everyone for sharing to this newbie. I drive a Subaru (4 wheel drive) but no off road type tires. When I decide I'm brave enough, I will have a plan B & C and maybe a D! Thanks again and I hope to meet all of you out there someday!

We went from sea rim side today and enjoyed our time out there. Beach was very smooth wide and easy driving. Workers passed back and forth a few times but never minded our lack of bathing suits. A couple guys also enjoyed the weather on either side of us.

A couple guys also enjoyed the weather on either side of us. It is good to see that the Sea Rim end of the beach seems to be in good condition, and that the workers are tolerant. High Island is MUCH closer for me to reach, but, there is only about .6 of a mile from the Highway 87 entrance to the construction fence, and, the storm washed away so much of the sand that some (small) amount of muddin’ is necessary, to get that far. I am now more determined, than ever, to get myself a surf-capable kayak, so that I can simply park at the Highway 87 entrance parking area, regardless of the tide, and reach any point I wish, along the shoreline.

I wanted, so much, to make it to the Sea Rim end, today, but that four-hours’ round trip would not leave enough time to enjoy the beach. A necessary errand, this morning, interfered. (I thought that retirement would result in most of my time being my own, but, that is not how it seems to be working out.) Tomorrow looks better, for the Sea Rim end, though if I hear/read about anyone being at the High Island end, tomorrow, I could opt for that.
To be clear, my main reason for wanting to meet fellow naked folks is for the safety-in-numbers factor. It is all too easy for the only old naked guy on the beach to be targeted for citation or arrest, or worse. Getting stuck in the soft clay, mud, or sand is another hazard, whether or not one has 4WD. The social life aspect is quite nice, too, but secondary.

For today, I found a secluded place, to get some all-over mid-day sun, much nearer home, so, I will not being going to the Sea Rim end of McFaddin NWR, today, Sunday the 22nd. I hope that y’all have a good time, out there, if any of y’all have made the trip. Later in the day, I might drive to High Island, though the tide will be rising, by then, which would mean avoiding driving on the beach, but that might well mean nobody will be on the beach, except right near the beach entrance, enabling me to hike just far enough to strip-down, and enjoy a naked sunset.

Well, it is a very temporary place, where one of a mowing crew, along a bayou green space, went into some tall vegetation, then apparently backed out, leaving a “cul de sac” in the Johnson grass. I found it while photographing birds/wildlife/etc. It winds and curves enough to prevent a line-of-sight view, to a person at the entrance, from seeing all the way to the end. It IS necessary to maintain a careful watch, listen for anyone moving through the grass, and, to be ready to pull some shorts on, quickly. This temporary path is parallel to a paved multi-use trail. One can only be nude, if quite near ground level. To stand up, while nude, would not reveal anything to anyone on the multi-use trail, but, someone across the bayou would be able to see. So, any day, this temporary place could be gone. The next mowing crew could obliterate it, or “mountain bikers” might start riding their bicycles through it. Or, an “unhoused” person might set up a camp. Until relatively recently, there had been some spots in my back yard, with no line-of-sight to prying eyes, but, a new “castle” just went up, behind us, making it impossible to work on a base tan, while at home. I do not “work on” maintaining a real all-over tan, but, my white skin will burn in about 25 minutes, if it has not gotten at least some recent sun. So, this temporary little sunny hiding place is convenient.
