We went yesterday, 7.20.24. We went in from the Sabine side. Quite a bit of family activity for the first mile then kinda sparse. We were the only nude couple down there. The fence is still up at 2 miles.

if I don't get away from my house soon i will go crazy. so i plan on if weather permit to go Tuesday. I don't care if i can get nude or not i just need to get away from where I am right now. if I get paid Monday i may go Monday. and i will post here before I leave and anyone that wants to show up well have a couple hours notice and maybe join me down there.

I am considering going out there, today. Spur of the moment. Wondering whether to approach from High Island or Port Arthur.

So I’m confused, can we get to the beach area, all the way in now? Looking to go next week, fence down? Reports have said the beach work was finished, it’s either there or Hippie Holllow 🤷🏻‍♂️

the pleaser island side is still fenced off. and you can see the equipment they using now. so they getting closer i hope.

i was down there today about 9.30 am on my bike i saw about 10 trucks and cars. i was on my motorcycle. and only saw one nude guy there almost at the fence. so i got nude. we talked but he said he was straight so i left it at that. but at least i did get nude for about a hour. would have stayed longer but i forgot my bug spray. at first it was ok but by 12 they was getting to bad. if someone will let me know when they heading down there again. i will show up we can play or not i just like being nude with other people. and have something we can set of lay under. would be great.

Is it even a sure thing that vehicular traffic will again be allowed within the NWR portion? The Bolivar Flats wildlife area has a permanent vehicle fence, though, to be clear, Bolivar Flats is not a federal NWR, so, is not managed in the same way.

Personally, when I have wanted to be alone, or have brought my own company with me, in the past, I/we have tended to enter from the High Island side, and set-up for the day before reaching the NWR boundary. We were virtually never visited by county deputies or the federal guys, that way. Only when wanting to be sociable have I ever felt it necessary to enter the actual NWR.

The next favorable (for me) late afternoon low tides will be on Sept 13th and 14th, by which time the tropical low-pressure system might, hopefully, no longer be a factor. Hoping that things align favorably, finally…

I had considered driving out there during the Sunday afternoon of Labor Day weekend, but then reckoned that it would be too crowded with families. Usually, families pack-up and leave by mid-afternoon on Sundays, but, I was concerned that it being Labor Day weekend might result in families staying later, on Sunday.

My truck does have telescoping uprights, which support cross bars and kayak “saddles.” I may try to mount a platform or “nest,” ostensibly for the purpose of bird/wildlife viewing, in case anyone asks, but with the added purpose of being out of direct line-of-sight of people at ground level, or driving by. I would rather that my toes be in the sand, while feeling the breeze all over, but, well, sometimes we compromise.

Drove down Thursday and the beach is open. No gates. Smooth and drive able
